History: Tools for Digital History

Use Annotation Studio to easily organize and annotate large collections of texts, to display significant texts or create digital archives which visitors can then annotate and tag, or share personal responses to texts with others, creating new digital communities.

Developed by the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and Media at George Mason University (the same folks who developed Zotero), Omeka is a platform for hosting digital assets such as documents, photos, letters, and other physical artifacts. An Omeka account is free and open source. You can get started right away with little technical familiarity. Themes are integrated into Omeka so that design is easy.
