Policy for CFA® Program Scholarships

What the are the benefits of Student Scholarships?

The CFA® Program Student Scholarships waive the one-time program enrollment fee and reduce the exam registration fee down to $400USD. Recipients can use their scholarship for any exam that is open and available for registration within one year from the date of award. Students that are not selected for award will receive the early registration pricing for up to one-year from the date of your decision.

Who can apply?

To apply for a CFA® Program Student Scholarship the applicant must:

  • Not be currently registered for a CFA® Program exam
  • Be enrolled at an affiliated university. Note applicants are not required to be enrolled in an affiliated degree program to be eligible to apply for or receive a CFA® Program Student Scholarship
  • Provide additional uOttawa-specific application requirements:
    • Resume + Cover letter + Transcript + Proof of Completion of an Ethics Seminar (For CFA® Program Level I)

Ethics Seminar

You have two (2) options:

When are these Scholarship alloted?

These will be alloted on 2 separate dates:

  • October 31:  Applications must be receive at the latest by October 21, midnight.
  • April 30: Applications must be received at the latest by April 20, midnight.

When can I expect an answer?

If you are granted a scholarship by one of the above dates, you will receive an email automatically.  If your application is not approved for the first October allotment, it will be reassessed during the April allotment.  Once all the scholarships are granted, remaining applications will be declined and an email will automatically be sent out.

What are the additional uOttawa application requirements?

Attach the following documents to your application:

  • uOttawa transcript
  • A resume which includes all experience and extra-curricular activities pertaining to investments.
  • A cover letter explaining how obtaining the CFA Charter will benefit your career.
  • A proof of completion of an Ethics Seminar.
