Audit Analytics (online portal)

Access to Audit Analytics’ website is complimentary for users whose school subscribes to Audit Analytics via WRDS. Using your university email address, register for access at their Academic User Registration site.  However, you must first create a WRDS account.

N.B. WRDS may only be used for non-commercial research purposes.

Bloomberg

In-Person Access Only:

  • Bloomberg can be accessed on dedicated Bloomberg terminals in the lab, DMS-2186.
  • Look for a BB terminal in the lab and log onto it using your student credentials
  • Click on the Bloomberg icon to start up the application
  • Create your account if you don't have one.
  • For the BMC certificate:  In the search bar, top left corner, type BMC or Bloomberg market concepts to see the list of tutorials.  Sign up, no code required.
  • For getting started with Bloomberg python API

Capital IQ

In-Person Access

  • Cap IQ can be accessed on any desktop in the lab.

Online Access

  • You can access your account or create one by using your uOttawa email and following this link.
  • Downloading the Excel Plugin:  You can download data into Excel or extract data in Excel using the Capital IQ plug-in (for Windows PCs only).  For plug-in options when owning a Mac PC, please contact us.

CFMRC | TSX

In-Person & Online Access:

  • This database is accessible on campus from any computer lab, including the Financial Research and Learning Lab (DMS2186), using this portal.
  • While most computer labs across campus are closed due to Covid, the CFMRC/TSX database is still accessible through the remote lab and sessions are limited to 90 minutes.

N.B. CFMRC/TSX may only be used for non-commercial research purposes.

Factiva

Factset

In-Person Access:

  • Factset can be accessed on any desktop in the lab.

Online Access:

  • FactSet can easily be accessed using their online web portal. Using your uOttawa student email, simply create a FactSet account using this link. Note, the web version does not offer the Excel API functionality. However, data can still be downloaded into Excel. Once you have received your login credentials, go to the FactSet login page here.

FactSet on your Smartphone: 

  • FactSet has a mobile app for Android, iOS and Blackberry Devices. Apps can be downloaded via Google Play Store, App Store, and Blackberry World.

In-Person & Online Access:

  • Haver in available in the lab and through the remote lab using the Biblio Stata remote session.

Refinitiv Workspace (Eikon | Datastream | SDCPlatinum)

Follow these steps to access Refinitiv Workspace:

1. Get on the Approved User List: Contact finlab to get your name on the approved user list.

  • Refinitiv Workspace is reserved for faculty members and graduate students.

2. Once on the approved user list, book your session by clicking on the View Schedule link below.

  • Further instructions will be emailed to you once you have booked a session.

3. Your first log on will be through web access.

  • For the Excel plugin: Install the application on your desktop: Download Refinitiv Workspace.
  • For Datastream or SDC Platinum: Type Datastream or SDC in search box on the top left corner.

The following rules apply:

  • Choice of 9 seats, available 24/7.  However, reservations must be made during regular business hours Monday to Friday: 9h00-17h00 EST.
  • Bookings are in 3 hour increments.
  • Use you uottawa.ca email address only.

RIT

In-Person Access:

  • The RIT Client is accessible on all computer terminals located in the Financial Research and Learning Lab (DMS2186).
  • It is also available in the following DMS computer labs: DMS2130, DMS2140, DMS2150.
  • When logging in:
    • Use IP: rit.telfer.uottawa.ca
    • Please email us at finlab for information on active cases and assigned port numbers.

SDC Platinum

In-Person Access:

  • SDC Platinum is available on all computers in the Financial Research and Learning Lab (DMS2186).
    • Before opening SDC, change the Region by right clicking on the time/date at bottom right of screen and change Region to: 
    • When SDC prompts you for a username, type the number of desktop. (i.e. for FN-01 type FN01)

Online Access

  • SDC Platinum is available through Refinitiv Workspace which is reserved for faculty and graduate students only.  For access instructions, please refer to Refinitiv Workspace.  

N.B. SDC Platinum may only be used for non-commercial research purposes.

WRDS

In-Person Access:

  • WRDS is available on all computers in the Financial Research and Learning Lab (DMS2186). Additionally, WRDS is also available in the following computer labs: DMS2130, DMS2140, DMS2150.  Please note that you may need to request a temporary account. 

Online Access

  • A WRDS account can be created using their online web online web portal. Please note that it may take a few business days before your request is approved. Once you have received your login credentials, go to the WRDS login page.
