Indigenous Canada
A free, online course that anyone can register for, and is offered through the University of Alberta. While the course is offered in English, subtitles are available in a variety of languages, including French.

"Indigenous Canada is a 12-lesson Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) from the Faculty of Native Studies that explores the different histories and contemporary perspectives of Indigenous peoples living in Canada. From an Indigenous perspective, this course explores complex experiences Indigenous peoples face today from a historical and critical perspective highlighting national and local Indigenous-settler relations. Topics for the 12 lessons include the fur trade and other exchange relationships, land claims and environmental impacts, legal systems and rights, political conflicts and alliances, Indigenous political activism, and contemporary Indigenous life, art and its expressions."
The Unforgotten
This five-part film anthology is paired with a downloadable toolkit meant to supplement the film to promote reflection and guide learning on anti-Indigenous racism in health care in Canada. The film and toolkit are available in both French and English.

Kitatipithitamak Mithwayawin - A solution for communities to collect and manage their own data as it related to health, COVID-19, and any other data that is relevant to individual communities. Our Data Indigenous app has been developed with and for the use of Indigenous communities across Canada who want to collect their own data.

First Nations Health Authority app
An opportunity to receive direct information to support the health, wellness, and safety of BC First Nations. It will provide a direct link to FNHA services and information, and will help to keep you up to date on FNHA's COVID-19 resources, as well as other holistic health information, support and tools.

East Cree Medical app
The Cree Health Board in the James Bay region of Quebec has created a free Cree glossary and translation dictionary. The app will increase the use of the Cree language in medical treatments and bridge the linguistic gap which often exists between health professionals and their Cree patients.

Health NU app
This app contains information that is relevant and useful for new members of the health care work force in Nunavut and was developed from the voice of our Nunavut communities. As such, it contains information about working and communicating in a multi-lingual environment, the organization of the health system, the Inuit historical context of our region, important aspects of health care practice, and values and expectations in the health care setting. It also includes useful community-specific information including maps, phone numbers, information pages, weather information, ways to get involved in the community, and things to pack.

Films

We Were Children
As young children, Lyna and Glen were taken from their homes and placed in church-run boarding schools. The trauma of this experience was made worse by years of untold physical, sexual and emotional abuse, the effects of which persist in their adult lives. In this emotional film, the profound impact of the Canadian government’s residential school system is conveyed unflinchingly through the eyes of two children who were forced to face hardships beyond their years. We Were Children gives voice to a national tragedy and demonstrates the incredible resilience of the human spirit. Directed by Tim Wolochatiuk and written by Jason Sherman, We Were Children is produced by Kyle Irving for Eagle Vision Inc. and David Christensen for the National Film Board of Canada (NFB).
Kanehsatake: 270 Years of Resistance
In July 1990, a dispute over a proposed golf course to be built on Kanien’kéhaka (Mohawk) lands in Oka, Quebec, set the stage for a historic confrontation that would grab international headlines and sear itself into the Canadian consciousness. Director Alanis Obomsawin—at times with a small crew, at times alone—spent 78 days behind Kanien’kéhaka lines filming the armed standoff between protestors, the Quebec police and the Canadian army. Released in 1993, this landmark documentary has been seen around the world, winning over a dozen international awards and making history at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it became the first documentary ever to win the Best Canadian Feature award. Jesse Wente, Director of Canada’s Indigenous Screen Office, has called it a “watershed film in the history of First Peoples cinema.”
