How to Use Zotero

Bite-size search strategies to help you become an expert searcher.

Instructions

Information coming from Google Scholar, databases, catalogues and other Web sites may be incomplete or inaccurate when exported to your Zotero library. It is strongly recommended that you double-check your references and make any necessary modifications to ensure that the references will be complete when used in a bibliography.

  1. Click on a reference in your Zotero library
  2. Click on any field in the right column to make modifications (all of the fields can be edited such as title, authors, year, etc.)
  3. If you use a citation style that uses either Title Case or Sentence case for titles, Zotero offers a way to change case in the title field:
    • Hover over the title with the mouse and right-click
    • Click "Title Case" or "Sentence case"
    • When using Sentence case, if there is a subtitle or a proper noun in the title, you will need to capitalize these by clicking in the title field and making the appropriate changes manually
