uOttawa Esports is a student-run club for both casual and competitive collegiate gaming at uOttawa.
OPSE is an organization working to create a collegiate esports ecosystem in Ontario. uOttawa Esports competes in OPSE's leagues for Hearthstone, League of Legends, and Rocket League.
Collectible card game (CCG): A game that involves building a deck from a large pool of collectible, and competing against other players using those built decks.
Commercial game: A game that must be purchased to play. Additional money may be required to purchase additional content in the game, such as characters or cosmetic items.
Esports: Sport competition that involves video games.
Fighting game: A game that generally centres on close combat between two or more combatants.
First-person shooter (FPS): A game that centres on weapons-based combat, where the action is experienced through the eyes of the game character.
Free-to-play game: A game that can be played for free. Money may be required to purchase additional content in the game, such as cards, characters, or cosmetic items.
Multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game: A specific type of team-based real-time strategy game. Each player controls a single character and cooperates with their team to destroy the opponents' base structure.
Real-time strategy (RTS) game: A strategy game that plays out in real time. All players play simultaneously, rather than take turns.
