Take the Access library with you wherever you go—easy access to books, videos, images, podcasts, personalized features, and more.

Instructions

You will need to create a free Access Profile if you don't already have one. To create an account go to any Access database, click on My Profile at the top right corner of the screen and click Sign in or create a free access profile. Use the same username/password to sign in the App. 

If you are off campus, you will have a 7days access after which you will need to connect to the University of Ottawa wifi network every 90 days to maintain your access.

DynaMed is the clinical reference tool that physicians go to for answers to clinical questions. Images, Calculators,  Guidelines, Patient education pamphlets are also available.

Instructions:

You will need to create an account in DynaMed.  Click on the login account icon at the top right corner of the screen and click "Register now". Use the same username/password to sign in the App.

Isabel (mobile website)

Isabel is a validated medical app that enables you to search for diagnoses by multiple signs and symptoms.

Instructions:

To obtain the institutional ID and password, you will need to access Isabel and follow the instruction in the box "Isabel on your mobile".

On your device, go to: www.isabelhealthcare.com, save the shortcut to your home screen. Click on the icon – select ‘login’ and enter your institutional  ID and password, check ‘remember me’ to save login details.

RxFiles

The RxFiles App contains > 85 drug comparison charts (>2000 entries on index pages) in a variety of medical therapeutic areas.

Instructions:

  1. Download the App on your mobile device
  2. From the same mobile device, open RXFiles in your browser.
  3. Click on Activate IOS/Android App (bottom of the screen)
  4. This will activate your App.

Search and download articles from EBSCOhost databases. E-books are also available in this app. 

Instructions:

You will need to create an account in EBSCO if you don't already have one. Go to any Ebsco database and click Sign In and then Sign up to create your account. In the app, click "Get Started" and tap the search box to find the University of Ottawa in the list of institution. Use your EBSCO username and password to sign in.

Detailed 3D human anatomy models, accessible online; the software allows the layers to be added or removed, and models can be rotated in space.

Instructions:

  1. Log into Anatomy.tv on your phone/tablet browser as you normally would 
  2. Click on the module you wish to download the app for (3D Real-time modules or the 3D Anatomy Quiz)
  3. At the prompt, click ‘Install the app’
  4. Return to Anatomy.tv in your browser and click the module again
  5. At the prompt, click ‘Launch the app’
  6. From this point on, you can go straight to the app to use it – you do not need to go via Anatomy.tv
